The Density of Love

As the winter sun falls behind the hills, a thin ice spreads over the water. It feels dry and rough under
my hands. Its swallows reflection. As I stroke it violently with pigment, the ice melts slightly, creating
its own images. I gently break the ice, turning the two dimensional into three.
Colors merge or drift away. They settle on the sands below. Slowly the water surface reclaims its icy
gaze, locking the river's rearrangement of my actions into place, inviting my response.
