Crossings: My Conversations with the River Arno
The photos of the environmental installation Traversata: Le mie conversazioni col Fiume Arno are echos
of dialogues. They capture fragments of my 7-month sculptural exploration into artistic collaboration
with nature.
These conversations reflect my own search for integration. Here the fundamental elements of nature
elicit unconscious reactions until they become conscious. "Looking" blurs into "listening." Then in a
secluded duet I forage for the balance point between observation and participation.
Each of the 5 following Traversata conversations take place over the course of one day. The materials
used for these environmental installation are from the river itself, non-toxic, natural elements that wash
away with the next rain...leaving neither damage nor residue. Once the conversation ends, all that
remains is memory.
